3D Printers

Have you installed any 3D printers yet? Are they in dedicated rooms with separate air handling, or sitting in offices or classrooms? Have you developed a Health and Safety Plan?

There has been an explosion in the installation of 3D printers in recent years.  These printers often use molten plastics and other volatile compounds that can adversely impact the building environment if not properly installed ventilated or operated.

Initially, these printers were operated infrequently, so there was not a significant impact to the building occupants.   As more of these printers are installed and operated with more frequency, this is no longer the case.

I have developed a team of affiliated companies that I work with to evaluate 3D printer installations so that your 3D printers can be operated safely and still provide the benefits you desire.

We can assist you with the following:

  • Developing and implementing Health and Safety plans for users and maintenance staff.
  • Training for users and maintenance staff.
  • Evaluation of 3D printer location with respect to building air handling systems and occupants
  • Designing air handling systems that may be required
  • Air permitting if required
